Mary-Jane Slingerland

My name is Mary-Jane Slingerland and I work as a private certified Speech-Language Pathologist, specializing in pediatrics. I have 23 years of experience working with children between the ages of 12 months and 7 years. My background training as an Early Childhood Educator, Primary Junior Teacher, and Speech-Language Pathologist has provided me with the developmental knowledge base and experience to work with young children who present with speech, language and general communication difficulties (including Social Understanding or Pragmatics) More specifically, I have experience working with children who have: articulation difficulties and apraxia, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism, learning difficulties and child language delays. I believe language learning needs to be experienced so I provide a hands on approach to my therapy sessions and fun and laughter is always a by product. Being a parent of three boys, I understand the need for practical suggestions to support children at home and on the fly so, I ensure every family leaves armed with ideas for language and speech goals between sessions to maximize every child’s learning needs.
